58 Time Utah Swimming State Championship Team

NEW ANNUAL FAMILY CONTRIBUTION

(“FUN”DRAISING)

Cottonwood Heights Aquatics Team is a recreation sponsored swim team.  The sponsorship comes to us mainly in the form of pool time (we don’t have to pay any) and subsidy of salary benefits for the Head Coach  The rest of our expenses comes solely from dues and what we are able to fundraise.  As you know new equipment needs and the cost to repair existing equipment is always on the rise.  For example, a touch pad currently is $1000.00 each.  We have to either repair/replace these on a regular maintenance schedule along with many other equipment needs.

To help the team succeed with needed equipment, supplies, education, etc. each family is now required to contribute $300.00/year.  How do you ask can we fill this obligation?  There will be many opportunities to reach the designated goal.  All monies will need to be turned in by May 1.  Listed      below are just a few of the ways to meet the new requirement.

*Participate in Swim-a-Rama (held in April)

*Participate in our new Scrip Program (see back for details)

*Be a gold level sponsor or find a Gold Level Sponsor for our annual        CHAT Invitational.

*Be a sponsor (1/2 of the amount will go to the annual requirement) of the annual Cottonwood Heights Charity Golf Tournament (benefiting the swimmers and skaters of Cottonwood Heights).

*Write out a check!

*Any other approved fundraiser opportunity that CHAT does.

For those who will only be participating with CHAT from February-August your annual contribution will be $150.00 (due by May 1).

For those who will only be participating from May-August your annual contribution will be $75.00.

The higher amount of $300.00 will be due if any one member of the family participates on a year round basis (9 months or more).

Questions, don’t hesitate to ask.  If you have any other great ideas in relationship to fundraising, please let us know!

WHAT IS SCRIP?

Scrip is a term that means "substitute money".

When your organization members purchase scrip, they're purchasing negotiable gift certificates that are used just like cash. The scrip is issued by the national and local retailers where many of your organization families already shop. These merchants want to support non-profit organizations, and in return ask you to support them by shopping with scrip at their stores. Your organization members can use scrip to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing, and other essentials, and with every purchase, they earn revenue for your organization.

How scrip generates revenue for your Club.

The Great Lakes Scrip center acts on behalf of churches, schools and other non-profit organizations to purchase large amounts of scrip from grocery stores, department stores, and other retailers. Because the scrip is purchased with cash up front, the participating retailers offer a substantial discount. Your organization buys the scrip from Great Lakes Scrip Center at a discount, and re-sells the certificates to your organization members for full face value. The bulk of the discount - from two to fifteen percent or more - is retained by your organization as revenue.

When can I purchase scrip?

Scrip will be available to purchase on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30-6:00 pm or when Lyse’ or Lois is in the office.  We will have a variety of scrip options available or you may place special orders.  Payment is due at the time of pick-up or special order placement.  Special orders may take up to two weeks to order.

Where do I find a list of retailers?

Visit www.glscrip.com to find a list of all the retailers available.

How does this help my annual contribution to the team?

When purchasing scrip we are buying it at a discount and selling it for face value.  Whatever the percentage difference is (see website for amounts) will be credited to your total contributions

We will start selling scrip beginning the week of October 1, 2007
